Rob da Bank over at BBC Radio 1 had a hell of a 2-hour show on Saturday. I don't think I stopped moving the entire time, and my ass actually started to tingle from chair dancing. Not only did he kick it off with some amazing house songs, he featured elegantly constructed beats by Gold Panda. Thirty-six minutes into the show you can hear an interview with Gold Panda detailing how he got started and how the songs "You" and "Marriage" were constructed. This isn't just some radio playing an mp3 over the waves, this is him playing the songs live, with slightly slower and improvised tempos that are peppered with hooks that elicit subtle grins and the soft chuckle of a "yeeessss . . ."
One hour and thirteen minutes into the show Rob da Bank meets up with James Blake and gives listeners the skinny on his signing with Atlas, nominations for the best of 2010, Feist's reaction to his remake of "Limit to Your Love" and touring. If that's not enough to make you cream your pants, then just listen to their accents for awhile.
The rest of the show is peppered with awesome tracks, including the recently debuted "Take Me Over" by Cut Copy and a remix of "Sleepyhead" by Fisherspooner's Le Chev. The remix you can actually hear above – you were wondering what that was, weren't you? – and snag it for keeps below. To listen to the show you can head over to BBC Radio 1.
