MTV

When I was a baby, my parents used to sit me down in front of the television and put on MTV to entice my little brain with crazy colors and enrich my eardrums with that lovely late 80s music. As the MTV cultured evolved, I was allowed to watch it less and less, until both the music channel and VH1 became taboo with its blatant sexuality and questionable antics. However, the channel-ban did not hinder me from becoming one of many who grew up entirely in an age of televised music culture, and as we celebrate MTV's 30th year I want you to look back and try to remember how this channel altered your life. Join the festivities by watching the first 24 hours of programming, with the first ten minutes are here and the other 23:50 at MTVTheFirst24. The first music video they ever played was "Video Killed The Radio Star," but of course.
