I usually prefer my lyrics bright and clear and at the forefront of the song. Often vocal style and lyrics will dominate how much play time a song gets in the car, considering I like to interact with my music while I drive. Tape Deck Mountain has none of this. Its vocals are like looking at your feet in the ocean. You can barely make out the details and the shape becomes more important. How the vocals interact in their latest track "It Goes Down" provokes the words into becoming just another instrument.
This is how Tape Deck Mountain breaks me out of my norm.
Listen to "It Goes Down" above and snag for keeps below, then keep your eyes peeled for their EP Secret Serf later this year.
