Jay-Z's on a different kind of tour lately. Not for an album, but for his book Decoded, which puts the history of rap and his music into a narrative context. Though Jon Stewart has a penchant for comedy, he managed to let the rapper/bussinessman/author speak eloquently and extensively on the matters in his book when he came in for an interview on "The Daily Show" Wednesday night. MTV News pulled a couple quotes from the interview that were intelligent and insightful:
"The basis of this book was, I care about the culture and about rap and it being a respectable form of art," Jay-Z said, echoing what he told MTV News earlier this week. "The book is surrounded around these songs, but it's also about a generation of kids. We grew up around the same time as rap. ... It's basically a story behind those songs, you know, context."
