If Lauren Doss is a Mechanical Bride, then she is the most heartwarming, sensitive and elegant robot I have ever heard. Telling her story in low sways of emotive progression in "Colours of Fire," Doss allows the delicate layers of piano, strings and back-up vocals to slowly bundle your heart into a comfortable, vulnerable position and then unexpectedly slay it. Strange to think, given this example of her storytelling, that she got her claim to fame in the U.K. with a cover of Rihanna's "Umbrella." Hear "Colours of Fire" below via soundcloud, then own it on her debut Living With Ants, which is due June 6.
