Sufjan Stevens

Sufjan Stevens needs no words to describe the mood of his collaborative work with Gaspar Claus. Preconceptions are redefined as the synthetic tone of computer blips and grinds makes the organic cello sound like a message from another world. The consistencies lulling underneath each track are the unifying element in an otherwise terrifyingly vast and hypnotic string of foreign vocalizations and unaccustomed pulses of noise. "Romance Cave" is by far the most coherent of the three tracks put together by these instrumental masters. You can hear it via the player below, or skip that to hear all three at their Official.fm site.

Fresh material aside, in case you missed Sufjan on tour last year, three professional videos were made of his performance at the Sydney Festival in Australia. You can watch a preview of "Too Much" via Youtube below, or head to the Sydney Opera House's website for all three clips.
