Fucked Up has shacked up with Sleigh Bells/Vampire Weekend producer Shane Stoneback and are planning to release their "completely relatable rock opera rife with meta-plot, meta-parts, meta-leads and self-referential quirks" titled David Comes to Life early next year. Exclaim! got the details when they interviewed drummer Jonah Falco who says:
"The whole feeling of this record revolves around things that are somewhat familiar and relatable, but with our difficult take on it," Falco says. "Difficult in the sense that any other band who decided to write a poppier, shorter, less complex record wouldn't have had to endure much frustration or conflict. When we listened back to the rough mixes and heard, in fact, a poppier, slightly more brief, relatable and happily attainable punk record that still sounded like Fucked Up, you can imagine how pleased we were."
Hmmm, sounds chin-strokingly intriguing. In case you're not familiar with Fucked Up's most recent work, listen to "No Epiphany" above off The Chemistry of Common Life, which also features Vivian Girls. Maybe after hearing it you can get a reference point for what that plus a meta-clusterfuck would sound like.
