With frequencies resonating at pitches that make your ears owe you a favor, Good Old War’s catchy melodies and perfect harmonies could make a barbershop quartet jealous. Looking through the House of Blues crowd during their set and seeing scattered heads mouthing a few lyrics here and there, it was obvious that the audience was there for Guster. But they got a delightful surprise, not to mention lucky, as Good Old War was ending their two-week tour with the band. With Keith Goodwin, Dan Schwartz, and Tim Arnold dancing to their own music, you knew that Good Old War genuinely loves what they do. With pulsating drum beats and melodies that you can’t help but move to, the audience quickly warmed up to unfamiliar territory. After the second song, it was hard to find someone not completely and utterly giving their full attention to the band.

Guster likewise came on strong with their set. Ryan Miller’s vocals reflected off the smiling faces of their fans as they amplified art through the speakers. Their instruments blended into sounds that conjured up images of of nostalgic nothings and future everythings. Once their set gained momentum, it was a task to maneuver through the crowd. Your best chance was backwards, but that’s where you didn’t want to be. Guster doesn’t disappoint.
