What else we were talking about that week

[Our fearless team, Nicci Boots and Ian McNeil spent three days listening to an obscene amount of fantastic music above the stunning Columbia River Gorge in George, Washington. Check out all our coverage here, over 30 sets from a who's who list of indie music.]

Another band I’d never been able to find the time for was Passion Pit, but their set at Sasquatch! was very much like Vampire Weekend’s in that they won me over with a contagious and overly fun show. There seemed to be more people at those two performances that weekend than any other, and the dancin’ beat of Passion Pit’s music had everyone on their feet, cheering wildly.

Lead vocalist Michael Angelakos turns me away when he lets his voice go too high, but his upbeat and smiling attitude made me want to be his best friend. After an inflatable whale surfed the pit crowd for awhile, Angelakos demanded it make its way to the stage so he could play with it, too. Which was pretty adorable. And the music was infectiously good, as the band gave a spot-on performance. Passion Pit get lots of cred from me for being what felt like a highly approachable group.
