Toronto indie rockers Still Life Still kicked off Saturday night at the Doug Fir Lounge. Although their music had a distinct edge, it felt like I was back in high school at a Death Cab for Cutie show seriously crowded by young screaming, dancing girls.
Touring in support of their excellent Two Dancers, Euro indie art-pop Wild Beasts had a huge fan following at the Doug Fir. The place was packed, and everyone seemed to know every one of their songs. Not bad for a band that has never played in Portland. Their sound reminded me of Muse, but a little more fun. They were a pleasent surprise for a band coming out of England, and who look like any of our indie pop bands. They rocked it for sure.
