Toronto's Still Life Still and England's Wild Beasts crank out fresh indie sound like nobody's business. Great Scott's Wednesday night crowd was surprisingly dense, and movement within the crowd became more and more impossible near the end of Still Life Still's opening set. Though they may not have had a present fanbase that night, Still Life Still earned some followers by the end of the set. The band put on a solid show that built to climax at the peak of their final song. Their cool-hued tube lights were definitely a nice touch, as well.
As soon as Hayden Thorpe of Wild Beasts took the stage, the crowd's excitement soared. Many big-time fans shouted out song requests, hoping to influence the setlist. Wild Beasts was a breath of fresh air; Thorpe's countertenor voice and the band's perfectly arranged falsetto harmonies created an intricately woven sound. For a midweek show, the night certainly did not disappoint.
