For better and worse, Darwin Deez is both predictable and slight, built around pulsing guitar, sparse electronic percussion and puerile lyrics. When the songs turn introspective, the lack of depth distracts. When celebratory, however, they manage stretches of transcendence that remind how simplicity can open up a moment to elation.
