There are only a few more crushing sounds than an animal in distress, and 19-year-old Spencer Radcliffe, a.k.a. Blithe Field, uses that heart-wrenching sound as the opener to the first track off Two Hearted, "Crushing." Recently signed to Waaga Records and classified as "dutch pop" on his myspace page, the Ohio native integrates the warping quips of musical samples with the mundane sounds of human and animal interaction to create an atmosphere of intriguing confusion. Make what stories you will out of the blend, just be prepared for where your mind might take you. His latest, Two Hearted will debut June 28.
