What else we were talking about that week

Man Man is insane. Plain and simple. To quote another friend with me at B.O.M.B. Fest, "When I see Man Man live, I'm actually afraid they are going to eat me."

I can't listen to Man Man on record, but it's easy to see why I'll go out of my way to see them live at a festival. They are a circus show infused with some of the most complex and infectious music around.

The vibraphone parts call up Frank Zappa's band, the trumpet straight out of Latin Jazz, and the vocals straight out of a Vaudeville horror movie. All the while, crazed facial expressions, costume changes, and rallying chants seep into the performance and make it that much more dynamic.

Man Man is insanity: well-rehearsed, consistently fun insanity.
