Abel Tesfaye is staying true to his word. Though there may not be a specific date on when his next mixtape, Thursday, will be emerging, he's keeping us satisfied with a track that eludes to a rapid evolution from the smooth feel of House of Balloons. "The Birds (Part 1)" reveals a vehemence as echoed in snare drum rolls and ever escalating vocal trills that was only hinted towards in previous tracks such as "Wicked Games." It also does exactly what The Weeknd begs you not to in his lyrics, which is fall in love.
